Technal’s new MODAL low-rise façade system is claimed to be the UK’s first to achieve such a high level of security, performance, and thermal efficiency, as standard. The “
rapid-build” modular solution is also believed to be the only low-rise glazing system to be tested to the BS 7950 British Standard for the enhanced security performance of windows. Innovations which allow “an unprecedented level of security without modification to the standard system” include:
• Glaze-in and glaze-out fixed lights useable on the same elevation without alteration to sight lines – said to be an “industry first” that offers “maximum security, and ease of glass replacement, wherever needed”.
• A four-point bi-directional espagnolette locking system. The lock’s “mushroom-shaped point” prevents the opening vent from being lifted from the outside to disengage the lock.
• A specially-designed screw for the integral opening vent to prevent removal of the bead and glass from outside, yet still allow easy glass replacement.
• Safety guards fitted to the top corners of the open-out vent reinforce the hinges of the vent frame for additional intruder protection.
Technal says MODAL also delivers “the highest level of thermal efficiency for low-rise glazing”, exceeding Building Regulations requirements.
