Yorkshire company to represent UK

The organisers of the HSBC-sponsored European Business Awards have announced that medical technology specialist Brandon Medical is to represent the UK as one of 25 “country representatives” in the prestigious 2010 Awards programme.

The Leeds company has been shortlisted for two awards, Business Innovation of the Year, and Business of the Year, securing the former shortlisting for its new HD-LED medical lighting technology and medical video teaching and training systems. The latter have been widely used within university teaching hospitals for surgical skills training for medics and surgeons, while, in the past two years alone, Brandon has won 11 “innovation” awards for HD-LED – a patented lighting technology claimed to “give the highest quality surgical lighting” while being “environmentally-friendly and cheap to produce”. Managing director Graeme Hall (pictured left, with Phil Cole, head of development, Leeds City Council) said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for our innovative designs, and to represent Yorkshire at this award ceremony.” (which will take place in November in Paris).
