Less heat and a longer life

A range of “energy-efficient” examination lights that use LEDs in place of conventional halogen bulbs to produce “a brighter, white light that improves visualisation of the examination area without the long term concern of bulb replacement”, has been launched by Welch Allyn.

The “Green Series” lights have a low energy requirement, with each LED having an expected life span of 50,000 hours. Welch Allyn explained that this compared to the “typical life span” of 3,000 hours for a halogen bulb. The LED bulbs also reportedly generate less heat, increasing patient comfort, and provide “true tissue colour rendition”. All feature “touchless” on/off controls, while the Green Series Exam Light IV is compatible with Welch Allyn disposable sheaths to further reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
