Innovation from Horne firsts

Showcasing for the first time on Horne’s stand will be new lever controls for the Horne TSV1 dual control shower panels (see cover story, HEJ – August 2010), and shower panels further specialised for mental healthcare applications.

These new additions will be on display alongside the company’s award-winning OPTITHERM thermostatic tap in a “mock-up room” integral to the stand. The dual outlet panel for mental healthcare facilities, with its detachable hose, offers two separate showering modes via an integral flow diverter valve. The vandal and ligature-resistant shower head at the top is for ablebodied users that do not require supervision. Users requiring assistance can shower with the 2 m hose, which is attached, by the carer, to the outlet at the side of the panel. Improvements to the panel design to enhance its ligature-resistant features mean the side outlet, where the hose attaches, is now flush with the panel surface, thus eliminating a potential ligature point, while the shower controls have been enhanced via improvements to the conical shroud. The increased angle of the cone, and a change of material to chromium-plated brass, reduce the risk of a ligature tightening around the control, meaning it will instead slip off.
