A natural colour spectrum, “ensuring almost shadowless illumination of the operating field”, is what virtually every surgeon wants, says Dräger, which explains that it can now offer such features with its new Polaris light systems “family”.
The company says the Polaris system’s smaller LEDs are also considerably more energy-efficient than conventional light sources; while An LED light source has a lifespan of around 30,000 hours (corresponding to 7-10 years’ service life in the operating room), the lifespan of a conventional light source is, Dräger says, around 1,000 hours. Polaris lights can be used either as individual operating theatre lights, or as a “satellite” in multiple-light systems. They can also be equipped with an integrated camera.
