Safetherm, the new thermostatic mixer tap for healthcare from Rada – the “worldwide experts” in commercial showering, washroom controls, fittings and systems – is said to set “new standards in safety, ease of use, and serviceability”.
It is also the first mixer tap to feature “Insutech+” technology’, which Rada says reduces surface temperatures on the hot inlet to a safe level – “answering growing health sector concerns about accidental contact burns, particularly among children and the elderly grabbing the body of a hot tap”.
The sequential, single-lever thermostatic mixer tap has been designed with ease-of-use as a key consideration. It is easy to operate under hospital protocols, with a maximum 120° travel, ensuring it is simple to use using the elbow to prevent cross-infection, while delivering a full range of water temperatures in a controlled manner.
Safetherm is also fully compliant with technical guidelines laid out in HTM64, and meets the D08 performance standard – as required by legislation in NHS hospitals. To further help reduce the risk of contamination, the design eliminates unnecessary internal spaces and internal machining detail that could house standing water when the tap is not in use.
The integral thermostat is said to produce excellent performance, managing temperature at point of delivery so that the user does not risk scalding, while allowing higher “upstream” temperatures to reduce Legionella risk.
Robust, and “easy to install and maintain”, the Safetherm is available in panel or deck mounting configurations, while parts that may require servicing are accessible without removing the tap. The tap is also said to be simple to clean – and clean effectively – “because its entire surface is continuous and smooth”.
Rada’s Safetherm complements the company’s comprehensive range of digital and mechanical products dedicated to healthcare specification.
