Following its recent introduction (HEJ – August 2010) of a keyboard designed to meet stringent infection control standards, Bytec Medical has launched the SmartCart – “a versatile mobile computing and power management stand incorporating integrated cable management for both data and power supply”,
and the complementary Medi-Stand, “a stable, rugged, mobile medical equipment platform, with a custom-made cast aluminium base, custom central extrusion, and heavy duty castors”. Featuring smooth, untextured paint and with no grooves where dirt could collect, the SmartCart’s surfaces are easily accessible to wipe down. An optional, inorganic, silver ion antimicrobial additive is available for extra protection. Built-in power management and diagnostics allow mains or mobile battery power delivery to standard, panel, and small form-factor, PCs, or other compatible laboratory equipment. The 720 Wh battery enables hardware to run for up to 10 hours away from the mains, while motorised height adjustment allows worktop set-up to suit operator requirements. The MediStand’s design is founded on a 700 mm diameter cast aluminium base that ensures good performance against “topple” even when fully loaded. Various mounting options enable carrying of up to 40 kg of monitoring equipment. The Medi- Stand has a strong, ergonomic aluminium handle, and, using the accessory mounting channel, ancillary devices can be positioned and set at a height to suit the application.
