Improved entertainment for Newham patients

Airwave has completed the initial phase of installing ceiling-mounted televisions in single rooms and fourbedded bays at Newham General Hospital as part of a two-year phased programme to upgrade the hospital’s patient entertainment system, incorporating both hospital radio and Airwave’s information channel.

The wide range of Freeview channels offers extensive choice, while patient headphones are cabled to a socket conveniently placed in the column trunking. Volume limitation in accordance with Newham University Hospitals NHS Trust requirements is programmed into each television, together with other “locked down” functions such as channel line-up, colour and brightness settings etc. The Samsung healthcare televisions used boast “PureCare” wipe-clean, smooth, remote controls, which are anchored with non-wired retractable cable to help prevent theft and loss. An “easy clean” Perspex remote control holder is fitted at each bed head.
