Powerful ‘infotainment’

A self-service, bedside infotainment system designed specially for use in hospitals, clinics, and care homes, has been launched by Datasound Laboratories (DSL).

The “compact and stylish” medical PC system provides “powerful computing and internet browsing capabilities”, along with support for audio and TV and Voice over IP for telephone calls, with a built-in handset and camera. With a robust, ventless, waterproof, and dust-resistant design, the DSL M1726 system features a seamless, easy-to-clean IP65-rated 17 inch touchscreen display. The standalone system can be connected using a Gigabit wired LAN or wireless network, and supports Bluetooth. Integrated RFID, barcode scanner, “smart card”, and magnetic strip readers, allow use with a range of payment options while providing strong user security.
