A new book, “Managing facilities and real estate”, by Michel Theriault, the principal at Ontario-based facility, property, and asset management consulting firm, Strategic Advisor, focuses particularly on the key skills of strategy, management, and leadership, rather than on the “mechanics” of managing facilities.
The author argues that these are key to “elevating the role of facilities management professionals to a strategic level” in any organisation. Intended for both “new and experienced” FM professionals, the 532-page book, published by WoodStone Press (ISBN: 978-0-9813374-1-8), presents “best practice management techniques articulated clearly with a focus on the business strategy”. The author has “extensive experience with improving service, reducing costs, and property/facility management services in-house, with the largest outsource provider in Canada, and as a consultant to facility managers.”
