Six weeks for 600 sets

Airwave Healthcare has supplied and installed a new 600 bed digital free-view television system across 23 wards at the new Peterborough City Hospital – in both single and multi-bedded rooms and within renal department wards.

Each 19 in Samsung healthcare television is installed on an articulated arm, and controlled by a Samsung PureCare “easy clean” white remote control, itself attached to a cord, secured to the wall plate, and stored in a customised holder. It thus remains securely with the television, essential in multi-bedded areas where unique codes prevent cross-changing functions by patients. Clinical applications, bed space, and the other bedhead services equipment, determined whether wall or ceiling- mounted arms were used bed-by-bed to maximise accessibility and afford the best possible viewing position from both bed and chair. The renal ward was “particularly challenging”, with 17 ceiling arms installed following installation of complex strut work above the ceiling void to facilitate safe movement and stability of the arms.
