Award to recognise ‘collaborative approach’

The CARITAS Project, founded by US “architect and visionary” Wayne Ruga as a global enterprise “committed to creating transformational environments that enhance human health”, is calling for entries for its Generative Space Award.

The deadline is 12.00 midnight, (US) Eastern Standard Time, on 1 May, 2011. Wayne Ruga says the CARITAS Project seeks to identify and recognise health and healthcare settings worldwide “where the focus is on improving human health through innovative design of the environment”. The CARITAS website adds: “Generative space builds on improvements in health and healthcare settings to date utilising transdisciplinary collaboration to integrate the physical and social sciences; academic research and professional practice; and the health, healthcare, and environmental design industries to produce systemic, sustainable improvements.” To be eligible for the Award, a healthcare setting must “demonstrate documented improvements for a full range of stakeholders, including the local community”. Benefits of winning include public recognition at the annual Healthcare Facilities Symposium and Expo (taking place this year from 20-22 September in Chicago); an award trophy and certificate; and international recognition via the Project website (www.thecaritasproject.info).
