A new thermal enhancement of its “already thermally efficient” AA600TE series of windows and doors has been launched by architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer.
The new AA601TEPlus casement window and AA605TEPlus swing door both apparently outperform the stringent thermal demands outlined in Approved Document L 2010. The enhancements, clearly identified by the “Plus” designation, have allowed a choice of thermal performance to suit the desired specification. Kawneer says the enhanced performance of the AA601TEPlus top- and side-hung casement window results from the addition of two new vent profiles featuring the convection fins already found in the frame, and from EPDM “heat shields” in the hardware cavity. The same convection fin technology has also been applied to a new curtain wall adaptor profile. These measures have taken the U-value of the AA601TEPlus casement window down to 1.5W/m2K. The same level of improvement has been achieved with the AA605TEPlus swing door, with the introduction of a new thermally broken, low threshold, EPDM threshold gasket, and a glazing capability of up to 51 mm to accommodate triple glazing.
