Already providing energy services to 85 UK hospitals, Dalkia claims to be the market leader for energy efficiency projects that provide savings on operational costs and reductions in CO2.
With the increasing pressure to achieve carbon reductions, the company says its “extensive resources” enable Trusts to focus resources on patient care and benefit from investment in new energy plant and technology to enhance their environmental performance. By integrating the most appropriate heating, electricity, and standby generating systems for a hospital site, Dalkia says it can “provide solutions that best match hospital requirements” utilising the latest developments, including modern combined heat and power systems, and renewable technologies. This type of energy management approach can also be applied to cooling, water systems, and medical and industrial gases and compressed air.
The company said: “The benefits gained from energy management, and the potential to meet the new targets, have been clearly demonstrated across the NHS for many years, and include cost savings, emission reductions, greater supply security, CCL exemption, transfer of risk, and better DEC rating. The demand for this type of service is highlighted by the growing numbers of hospitals who are providing energy through this type of contract – Dalkia now delivers services for around 5,542 hospitals across 40 countries”.
At HefmA Dalkia highlighted ways to improve energy and environmental performance through investment in energy-efficient plant design, and “optimum operation” that meets demand without wastage, and efficiently distributes energy to the point-of-use.
