VINCI Park has opened the new car park it has designed and built at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (HEJ – April 2010).
The 1,000 space multi-storey facility, which has taken just a year to build, will be managed for the next 30 years by the specialist parking operator as part of its £9 million investment in the design, build, finance, and operate (DBFO) contract for Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The contract has seen VINCI Park invest £9m in the car park, which incorporates timber louvre panels rotated to create a wave effect. These prevent car headlights from being seen by nearby properties, and provide natural ventilation and light. Visitors will benefit from new pay-onfoot machines and a “parking shop” to deal with parking-related enquiries. A new integrated pay-on-foot and payand- display solution has seen new smart cards issued to hospital staff, while number plate recognition should prevent them having to queue at entry and exit barriers.
