Emergency lighting guide unveiled

Fire detection and emergency lighting system specialist, Hochiki Europe, has published a free A6-sized guide to BS5266, the code of practice for emergency lighting.

UK fire safety legislation requires a premises’s occupiers to be able to find their way “to a place of total safety”, should fire occur, using escape routes with sufficient lighting. BS5266 provides guidance on maximum viewing distances and luminance conditions for safety signs, positioning of emergency luminaires, minimum height levels, Lux levels, acceptable glare levels, and minimum routine testing schedules.
