Rockfon’s new “enhanced and extended” MediCare modular ceiling range is HTM 60-compliant in categories 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Healthcare facilities are classified in accordance with NF S 90-351, which defines infection risk levels depending on the area – from “low risk” areas such as administration offices, to “very high risk” locations such as operating theatres. Risks are categorised based on air cleanliness, disinfection of the surface, and anti-microbial properties. The improved range offers three performance levels. All products have a low particle emission, resulting in an ISO Class 5 Clean Room classification, while, with a non-combustible stone wool core, the range has no nutritional value, providing no sustenance to harmful microorganisms, including MRSA. The latest systems also offer the highest fire safety classification, Class A1. The company added: “Rockfon stone wool ceilings do not burn, and can withstand temperatures of over 1,000°C for 120 minutes without melting, providing excellent fire safety (HTM 60 3.8).” Products range from MediCare Standard, “a cost-effective solution” for areas such as wards, waiting areas, and nursing offices, offering high sound absorption and Bacteriological Class B5 and B10 classification, to MediCare Air – for “the most high risk areas”, where jointed ceilings are acceptable.
