Alongside providing data on other trials from around the world, Antimicrobial Copper will be highlighting the initial results from a multi-site, Department of Defense-funded clinical US trial.
Which it says demonstrated that the use of antimicrobial copper surfaces in intensive care unit rooms resulted in a greater than 40% reduction in the risk of acquiring a hospital infection. Antimicrobial Copper is the name of a worldwide network of non-profit organisations advising on the use, in clinical environments, of antimicrobial copper touch surfaces – e.g. door furniture, taps, and ward equipment, to reduce contamination and infection risk. Staff will be on hand to discuss the practicalities of installing antimicrobial copper items and the supporting science; a range of products will be displayed, and case studies of both UK and overseas installations will be available.
