BeaconMedæs and Atlas Copco have developed what they claim is “the market’s highest specification medical air plant” – mAir, incorporating the new dMED Dryer System, GA-MED VSD compressor, and ES-MED Controller.
mAIR incorporates Atlas Copco’s GA-MED screw compressor, a purposeengineered medical variant of the GA compressor. Beacon Medæs added: “As a hospital’s flow demand varies throughout the day, we can now offer variable speed drive (VSD) screw compressors. Matching their speed to the flow required provides significant energy savings.” The dMED air purifier and drier have a reduced footprint, and incorporate a hopcolite catalyst as standard, which the two companies say “guarantees carbon monoxide levels beneath those stated in the European Pharmacopeia monograph”. The ES-MED central controller is connectable to the hospital’s LAN network, enabling live plant status monitoring, including of system alarms, run hours, pressure of supply, dewpoint level etc, from any PC. Optional additional hardware enables sending of SMS text and email alerts to the user. The mAIR system meets the requirements of HTM 02-01, and is CE marked according to the MDD 93/42 Medical Devices Directive.
