Mike Beever, head of PFI, commercial, and contract planning, at the Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was recently selected as the winner of a free IHEEM seminar place as one of those who provided valuable information to the Institute by completing a questionnaire, incorporated into the “carrier sheet” of September’s HEJ, seeking readers’ views on future seminar topics and locations.
Siân Barker, IHEEM’s events and education manager, explained: “The responses to our questionnaire are still being collated, and will help us with the future technical seminar programme, as well as giving us useful guidance on the preferred location for future seminars and other educational events. “We shall, in fact, be using the carrier sheet every month for a variety of different interesting items, so do not forget to check it out.” October’s HEJ saw the Institute’s Danielle Preston use the carrier sheet inventively to announce the launch of the new IHEEM Technology Platform Committee, of which she is secretary, together with a recruitment drive for volunteers as Committee members using a creatively modified version of the famous “Your Country Needs You” First World War military recruitment poster featuring Lord Kitchener. IHEEM says the new Technology Platform Committee will:
• Act as a focus group for technology matters.
• Create IHEEM policy on issues affecting healthcare engineering and estate management.
• Advise the Council on significant issues arising.
• Manage the Institute’s technical responses and activities.
• Assist the Education & Training Committee with seminars based on relevant technical subjects.
