This year’s IHEEM Healthcare Estates conference and exhibition, taking place at Manchester Central from 9-10 October, will be held in what many see as a pivotal year for healthcare.
Exhibition director, Steve Webb, said: “Despite the UK economy being in recession, healthcare remains a key Government priority, with the 2010 public spending review having set out to protect the NHS budget. Healthcare Estates is the only event dedicated to this important sector, a priority for many NHS decisionmakers, and the 2012 event will again provide an ideal opportunity to meet with key manufacturers and suppliers. “Last year’s IHEEM flagship event,” he continues, “saw show visitors network with more than 170 exhibitors, and the 364 delegates and speakers who attended the IHEEM conference. The show provided a considerable array of information, contacts, and experience. Over 50% of the stand space for this year’s exhibition, which will once again be free-to-attend, was booked up at the 2011 show.” Healthcare Estates 2012 will see the return of a number of key exhibitors, including Beacon Medæs, Britplas, Cistermiser, Courtney-Thorne Call Systems, Fendor, Gent by Honeywell, Heatrae Sadia, Kemper UK, Procure21+, Shire Controls, Spirax Sarco, Honeywell Building Solutions, and Zip Heaters. The exhibition will also feature two new areas; the Contractors & Architects zone, and the Estate Management & Consultants area, as well key areas devoted to Energy & Sustainability, Focus on FM Showcases, and New Product Showcases. The Construction & Architects Area will feature content presented and organised by construction and architecture professionals over both days. The area will be ‘interactive’, with a variety of presentations and opportunities to engage with the key names in the healthcare sector. Topics potentially to be covered include: ‘What is the future for the Private Finance Initiative?’; ‘New mechanisms for bringing private investment into the UK’s public sector’; ‘How to get your product/service specified’; ‘Frameworks and Refurbishment’, and ‘Making current facilities/estates fit-for-purpose’. Steve Webb said: “The Estate Management & Consultants Area, meanwhile, has been requested to allow IHEEM’s estate management members and other leading individuals within the market to engage within a series of roundtables and lunchtime networking sessions.” Topics set for discussion include: ‘Estate rationalisation’; ‘How estates integrate with Trusts’; ‘Transformation change – optimising space’, and ‘Strategic asset management’.
