In a contract worth almost £1 million, Static Systems Group (SSG) is installing integrated systems comprising nurse call, staff attack, and bedhead trunking, at the £110 m Emergency Care Centre at Foresterhill, Aberdeen.
The equipment is going into eight of the Centre’s 10 floors, encompassing A&E and Acute Medical Assessment, and specialist areas such as Cardiology, Renal, Respiratory, and Oncology. The 10-storey 365-bed, new build facility for NHS Grampian will replace the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s existing A&E department. SSG’s pre-contract discussions with main contractor, Robertson-Dawn Heath, sub-contractor, NG Bailey, and other specialist trade contractors, highlighted, as critical, logistics, and the limited availability of on-site storage space. SSG subsequently put in place a regular two-week delivery schedule, with prewired and pre-gassed trunking units manufactured and assembled at its Staffordshire factory pre-delivery to site. The project uses SSG’s Modus bedhead trunking, which predominantly comprises vertical flatwall units with services on both sides of the bed. SSG’s project manager, Richard Kane, said: “The pre-assembly of bedhead trunking led to significant installation efficiencies, while the pre-start meetings helped us take on board everyone’s views and expectations.”
