‘All the tools for a positive patient experience’

For those considering investing in patient entertainment and information equipment, Airwave Healthcare claims to ‘have all the bases covered’, to both improve the patient experience, and ‘deliver the vision’ of both Trusts and local hospitals.

The company says: “Any visit to a hospital can be stressful. Today’s converging technologies, however, allow hospitals to easily provide an audio-visual experience to distract, reduce anxiety, and relax the patient, via an easy-to-use (ideally free-of-charge) patient entertainment system. With an extensive range of televisions and touchscreens, plus a wide portfolio of standard and bespoke mounting options, Airwave enables any hospital to implement and commission a patient entertainment and ‘infotainment’ solution that enhances communication, entertainment, and clinical tools at the bedside.”

Hardware products include ‘healthcare-specific’ white televisions, coupled with ‘infection control’ wipe-down remote controls, and multiple arm fixing designs for easy implementation in and around additional bedside equipment. Mounting arms can be of various lengths to suit individual bed area designs, e.g. to accommodate bed bumpers and still ensure a positive patient viewing and interaction experience. Arms are available in wall or ceiling mount choices. Additional designs available include bespoke monitors, televisions, and touchscreens on carts and trolleys.

White ‘Healthcare TVs’ – available in 22 and 26 inch sizes, are said to ‘bring the best in patient viewing experience’, via ‘brilliant LED images, with incredible contrast’. Easy installation, menu, and volume locking, allow groups of televisions to be managed easily from a central location, ‘ideal for the hospital environment’. The Theme TV light option offers a simple user interface that gives patients the opportunity to navigate the on-screen menu to find features such as hospital information and international channels.

Airwave also provides ‘the very latest in digital signage solutions’ from Samsung and LG. LG’s EzSign is described as ‘an extremely cost-effective and eye-catching solution to engage visitors with crystal clear entertainment and information’. ‘Fast and easy to edit’, and requiring no media player or additional hardware, images and text are applied from pre-installed content templates, after which they can be saved the onto a USB drive and simply ‘fed’ to the user’s EzSign screen.

Airwave’s hospital information channels, meanwhile, AirCAST and AirINFO, communicate important hospital information to patients. AirCAST uses the familiar ‘red-button’ system. allowing patients to quickly and easily navigate through different sections of hospital information. The hospital can instantly update the system via a simple web interface to keep information ‘fresh and up-to-date.”
