Demand response company, KiWi Power, is a commercial partner with National Grid, and together the two organisations pay a new and recurring revenue stream to help balance the electricity network during times of ‘grid stress’, for on average one hour, 30 times a year.
Healthcare facilities can benefit by switching from grid supply to on- site back-up generators, or reducing non-essential loads from equipment such as heating, ventilating, and air- conditioning plant.
KiWi Power explains: “The switch to your generators is seamless (a ‘no break transfer’), which in effect simulates and replaces the required ‘on-load’ testing requirements (of two hours per month), as stated in HTM guidance. On-load testing is extremely intrusive to site operations, given the small power outage often required when assets are not operating in parallel to the grid.”
The company’s director and co- founder, Yoav Zingher, and Crown Commercial Services (CCS), will deliver a presentation on 8 October on the benefits, the optimal approach, and the CCS Framework.
