Exhibiting in Manchester this year, Eurobond Laminates has provided Rockspan external wall panels for the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, designed by Keppie Architects.
The new hospital will deal purely with emergencies and life-saving procedures – a claimed first for the UK. The 200 mm thickness stone wool core panels are finished in ‘gullwing grey’. Eurobond says they are a cost-effective solution for hospitals, offering ‘up to four hours’ fire resistance, and minimal smoke in the event of a fire’.
Located north of Newcastle, the Cramlington facility will provide ‘a uniquely comprehensive range’ of emergency care to patients in Northumbria. At the 29,000 m2 development’s heart is a three- storey hub housing laboratories, radiology, and operating theatres, flanked by a series of ‘cogs’ housing wards on one side, and the entrance and ambulance podiums on the other.
