Rubber flooring from nora systems that won both a Building Better Healthcare Award 2014 and an Architects’ Journal Award the same year – and selected in this instance particularly for its high durability and hygienic properties – has been installed in the new Wokingham Medical Centre.
Originally a 1980s office block, the Medical Centre has recently been transformed into a modern, stylish building, with simple and minimalist clinical spaces. Barbara Weiss Architects have been mindful of the town’s existing style of buildings in creating a building that is both inkeeping contextually, and provides a practical public medical facility.
To comply with standards, and achieve the desired atmosphere for the interior, a combination of different materials were used, including nora systems’ rubber flooring; noraplan uni flooring features throughout the medical areas and stairwells.
nora systems said: “Due to their dense vulcanised surface, nora rubber floor coverings fit perfectly in this type of installation, as they create a comfortable, hygienic, and anti-bacteriostatic environment. nora products have very low abrasion, and do not require any coatings throughout their lifetime.”
