BOC says its new Backfeed Service ‘makes shutdowns easier to handle’; the Backfeed Kits ‘offers a safer, easier, lighter, and more secure solution to supply medical gas pipeline systems while the pipeline infrastructure is isolated’.
The Backfeed Service includes:
- Consultation at planning stage.
- Delivery and set-up of 1 to 24 backfeed supplies and cylinders.
- A BOC engineer on site to manage the equipment.
- Other features include:
- An ‘end-to-end’ service from BOC.
- Elimination of the risks associated with large cylinders.
- No high pressure connection.
- Removal of ‘unsafe storage practices’ in patient environments.
One of the many customers impressed with the service is Clive Myatt, technical services manager at Cofely, who said: “We have found the backfeed kits very easy to use. With no lifting involved, as the cylinders are mounted on their own trolley, moving them around a hospital has proven straightforward, with reduced manhandling issues and less noise. The higher capacity cylinders also mean fewer cylinder changeovers, which frees up resources. The Backfeed Kits’ availability during programmed works has also proven beneficial, as they are readily available for any potential emergencies.”
The Backfeed Service has also been successfully used by Skanska at London’s St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
