London’s recently opened Francis Crick Institute research facility (see also pages 51-56) incorporates Allgood’s Contego antimicrobial ironmongery in its laboratory and visitor areas.
Located next to King’s Cross Station, the ‘world-class’ biomedical research facility will seek to discover how and why disease develops to find new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and stroke, as well as infections and neurodegenerative conditions.
A technically complex construction project, the ‘Crick’ was designed to the highest specifications to ensure that the most sensitive biomedical research can be undertaken.
Allgood’s Contego antimicrobial copper alloy ironmongery pull handles, push plates, and electromagnetic locks, were specified for laboratory environments and high traffic areas, including the auditorium doors, while Contego lever handles and bathroom turns feature on WC doors and storage cupboards throughout.
Supplying over 4,500 Contego items, Allgood also provided an access control and door automation package, including electronic handle sets and automatic door operators.
‘Ideally suited to, and developed for medical environments', Allgood’s Contego ironmongery range is formed of antimicrobial copper alloy. ‘With the appearance of stainless steel’, it ‘seamlessly integrates with surrounding ironmongery items, while harnessing antimicrobial copper’s intrinsic benefits
