The Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre in Plymouth, which provides NHS patients with fast access to elective and diagnostic procedures, has recently invested over £2 m in a third operating theatre and a new endoscopy suite,
The project will allow the treatment of an additional 1,000 NHS patients annually in theatre, and for over 3,500 to be seen per year in Endoscopy.
The Care UK-run facility supports Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, and specialises in orthopaedic and ophthalmic surgery. Brandon Medical supplied a range of medical products to serve both Theatre 3 and the Endoscopy suite. Its ‘complanate’ Mediclean ultraclean ventilation system was installed as part of the refurbishment of Theatre 3. The ergonomic UCV fits flush to the ceiling without the need for air deflectors or side screens, and with no obstruction to adjacent equipment. Fitted alongside it is Brandon’s Quasar eLite 6030 light combination, which reportedly ‘offers the brightest light beams on the market’. Four bespoke and customisable Atlas pendants – two rigid and two retractable – were also installed.
Brandon also supplied its ‘ultra-slim’ Astramax HD-LED surgical lighting and compact Coolview CLED11FX examination light, and two ‘future-proof’ membranetype surgeon’s control panels.
