Static Systems has started work on its first PFI contract to incorporate MODUS bedhead services trunking with newly designed integrated lighting. Along with the company’s Codemlon nurse call system, the equipment will be installed at the Freeman Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The work is being undertaken through contractor Crown House Technologies on behalf of Laing O’Rourke.
An important element of Static Systems winning the contract was early detailed discussions of the lighting needs at Newcastle with the Hospital Trust and Crown House technologies. Static Systems invited the Trust to see an example of a completed installation at the company’s mock four bed ward, located at its manufacturing plant in Staffordshire.
Static Systems’ PFI sales manager, Stuart Guest said: “Our fully equipped mock ward is invaluable to both clients and us. We are able to recreate a wardbuild scenario and with our clients can trial different solutions and make subtle adjustments to lighting heights and positions to suit each situation. All these points can be agreed before the manufacturing and installation phases.”
