Biocidal wood lacquer for hospital seating

Knightsbridge Furniture, a leading supplier to the NHS since 1960, is to use Premier Finishes’ Hygienilac biocidal wood lacquer on all its healthcare and care seating ranges, including its latest patient seating ranges.

Hygienilac works by preventing bacteria’s access to nutrients so they starve and die. It has a kill rate of 99.9% over a 24 hour period against a large number of bacteria, certified by Bodycote Lawlabs, and has an endorsement from the NHS Infection Control Rapid Review Panel. It remains effective for years because of its inherently low water solubility and, because it does not employ silver technology, it is UV stable.

Knightsbridge Furniture’s MD, Alan Towns, commented: “We are one of the biggest suppliers to the NHS and have always designed our furniture with infection control in mind. Hygiene in hospitals has never been so important, and by using Hygienilac on our furniture we are helping protect patients from contracting deadly bacteria like C. Difficile and MRSA.”

Knightsbridge Furniture supplies all arms of the NHS, including acute wards, foundation Trusts, mental health facilities and ICUs. It also supplies many large private healthcare and care groups.

Products within the Knightsbridge Healthcare range include patient seating, upholstered seating, dining chairs, beam seating, sofa beds, footstools and desk seating. The Care range includes high back and wing chairs, tables, beds and cabinet furniture.
