Siemens Medical Solutions has launched its first digital X-ray unit with a wireless detector. The company claims that the Ysio wi-D will deliver increased flexibility in examinations and enhanced comfort for patients.
The wireless detector transmits image data to the diagnostic workstation via WLAN. It can be used just as flexibly as a cassette in analogue X-ray systems but is a digital X-ray imaging alternative. The Ysio wi-D is a totally redesigned X-ray system where the overhead support, the examination table and the Bucky wall unit are specially aligned to digital X-ray imaging. With over 7 million pixels and a pixel size of 144 micrometers, the detector is said to supply images of excellent quality within seconds after exposure. The enhanced DiamondViewPlus software optimises the detail contrast and noise level of the images to enhance the quality further. The unit also assists in streamlining routine daily work. The system can move to as many as 1,000 different positions automatically at the push of a button, according to the set organ programmes. Fixed obstacles in the room, e.g. a washbasin, can be smoothly circumnavigated. The settings stand can be changed quickly and easily on the colour touchscreen display of the tube assembly, and a remote control enhances ease of use. Furthermore, the Ysio wi-D offers extended versatility in imaging and helps reduce patient examination times, resulting in an increased daily throughput.
