SFX Parking Post is a new aid from SFX Technologies based on hi-tech flat panel loudspeaker technology designed to help protect parking spaces reserved for disabled drivers, parent or child or other special need groups.
SFX emphasises that, while DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) regulations require all parking facilities to provide protected disabled bays, conventional print notices often fail to enforce restrictions effectively. Audio broadcasts achieve greater compliance via a spontaneous message, as other motorists can hear it and “the guilt factor” comes into play.
The SFX Parking Post system uses the same “Gel Audio” audio signage technology SFX claims “dramatically reduced” personal crime in London via an active campaign undertaken with the Metropolitan Police and the pub/ retail trade. Undertaken within the past 18 months, the six-month campaign saw special transmitter boxes installed in ladies’ toilets in public houses in Lambeth which reminded users to be careful not to leave handbags and other personal belongings unattended. The scheme reportedly cut theft by 50% during the trial, resulting in an extensive take-up by publicans in Lambeth and Southwark.
SFX also markets a so-called Safer Parking Box which transmits a message reminding motorists to take care of their belongings when leaving or entering a car park. The message can be triggered by infrared sensors.
