Film offers bacteria and solvent protection

A hard-coated polyester film specially designed to offer anti-microbial protection for hospital surfaces which also offers “industrial strength protection” against solvents and cleaning chemicals and impact and abrasion resistance “above ordinary laminates” is now available from MacDermid Autotype.

SIGMAGraF Shield AM incorporates Microban antimicrobial technology to ensure all surfaces and signage remain protected for both patients and staff at all times.

Incorporation of the Microban into the textured hard coat during manufacture ensures even distribution of the antimicrobial agent throughout its surface, preventing it from washing or wearing away. Microban is said to inhibit the growth of a wide range of bacteria, fungi and moulds, including MRSA, Salmonella Enteritidis, Escherichia Coli and Listeria monocytogenes.

A heat-stabilised film with a UV-cured hard coating on the front and a pressuresensitive acrylic adhesive on the reverse, SIGMAGraF Shield AM can be combined with cladding vinyl and graphics for protection on walls, doors, counters and equipment in hygiene-critical areas.
