SpeedDeck has provided its secret fix roofing solution and Vitesse architectural cladding panels for the new extension to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust’s radiotherapy department in Sutton, Surrey.
It incorporates a glass atrium, radical curved roof, and various elements intended to improve the patient experience, and the department required versatile architectural cladding and roofing materials that would “guarantee the longevity of their excellent aesthetic appearance”. SpeedDeck provided 50 m2 of Vitesse architectural cladding, 300 m2 of Aluminium SpeedDeck roofing, and 284 m2 of VT137 Structural Deck. The roof design required a system that could accommodate curved shapes changing in depth along the building’s length, sloping down in the middle of the roof, towards a peak at one end and an overhang at the other. SpeedDeck’s installation process allowed one-piece roofing elements to fulfil this design without any leakage risk, while the Vitesse panels’ “high-end architectural finish” complemented the roof profile and rooftop glass atrium.
