Taps reduce burn risk

Reliance Water Controls has developed a new range of thermostatic taps designed to meet the requirements of HTM 64 and thus “ideal for the healthcare washroom”.

The Caremix taps comply with the NHS Estates 1997 Model Engineering Specification D08, being designed to prevent scalding especially where users are considered at particularly high risk. A failsafe mechanism ensures extreme temperature protection even should hot or cold water supplies fail. Blending of hot and cold water to a safe temperature at the outlet allows hot water storage and circulation at sufficiently high temperatures to prevent growth of Legionella bacteria. The Caremix taps feature a “safe-touch” surface to prevent burns via touching of the tap body. A highly scratch-resistant finish provides a long-lasting, smooth surface for easy, thorough cleaning. There are currently three models: monobloc, wallmounted, and deck mounted two-hole. All feature lever handle operation to facilitate operation for elderly or disabled users, and are available with extended, spatula-shaped levers for operation using elbow or arm to help prevent cross-contamination.
