Scalable DECT communication

Professional messaging solutions, Ascom (UK) claims to have installed over 75,000 systems worldwide. It has recently launched its d41 and d62 DECT handsets, together with the latest R3 update to the Ascom IP-DECT system.

IP-DECT is a “highly scalable” solution, encompassing everything from small systems “with just a couple of handsets and one base station” to those comprising thousands of base stations installed on multiple sites, interfacing with one or many PBXs, and capable of supporting up to 100,000 users roaming across them. The R3 upgrade brings IP-DECT into line with Ascom’s “Voice over WiFi” offering by adding “over the air” software updates and handset configuration, “considerably simplifying” mobile phone management, and enabling sharing by multiple users with download of individual setup and extension numbering initiated from the handset. The d62, the latest Ascom lone worker mobile, provides a dedicated push button alarm button. Ascom lone worker solutions can be provided on VoWiFi, IP-DECT, or paging platforms.
