SFS intec’s new ISOTAK TIA fastening system has delivered cost and time savings compared with alternative adhesive options on the roof of the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital’s new £22 million Women’s Centre.
The new thermal break, self-adjusting fastener system was specified by roofing contractors Single Ply Services to secure the 2,000 m2 flat roof on the hospital. ISO-TAK TIA is said to require fewer fastener combinations and less drilling, reducing installation time and significantly easing the task of mechanically fastening multi-layered, tapered insulation to the concrete deck. The roofing contractors experienced mixed weather, including both rain and frost, while the exposed site demanded high design load requirements from the fixing system. Using the ISO-TAK TIA system the installers were able to mechanically fix into the concrete deck even when temperatures fell below 5°C. The SFS intec system is specifically designed to self-adjust to the insulation thickness.
