Temperature monitoring for blood and medicines

Wi-Fi-based real-time locating system (RTLS) supplier to the healthcare sector Airetrak has enhanced its ResourceView information solution with new Wi-Fi temperature monitoring functionality.

Enabling hospitals and clinics to meet increasingly strict guidelines on the temperature monitoring of blood and drug products, the new feature allows reliable, continuous recording of the temperature of all fridges and freezers and blood or drugs boxes in transit. Designed with input from 20 NHS hospitals, the system uses calibrated sensors that communicate over the hospital’s Wi-Fi network. Information is easily accessed via an “intuitive” web-based user interface. Able to monitor temperatures of –200°C to +200°C, the Airetrak solution provides automated alerts and escalations via email or SMS should a fridge’s temperature rise or fall beyond predetermined thresholds. An extensive reporting package provides a complete audit trail for up to 15 years.
