The Wandsworth Group completes a full installation using the IPiN Nursecall system at The Police Rehabilitation Centre, Oxfordshire.

Based in a large listed manor house, the rehabilitation centre combines an old building exterior with an interior containing the latest specialist facilities and systems including The Wandsworth Group’s IPiN Nursecall.

Although a charity, The Police Rehabilitation Centre, with The Wandsworth Group’s direction, went for the latest technology with regards to IPiN Nursecall.  The IPiN system incorporates a full alpha numeric paging system which sends a message to a pager that the nurse carries, so no time is wasted when a call is received and the nursing staff need not return to a Nurse station.  On top of that, the Nurse Call system has colour touch-screens at various locations around the building to deliver information where it is needed. IPiN is delivered on one CAT5 cable, which means big bandwidth at the bed-head so other systems can be integrated in to it.   This particular system was designed and manufactured in a satin desert brass finish, another specialist area for the Wandsworth Group, to tie in with the building and surrounding architecture.

There are four levels of call available on the system –
1) Standard patient – nurse call
2) Assisted bathroom/ensuite call
3) Emergency call
4) Cardiac call

In the hydrotherapy pools, the emergency/cardiac call buttons are on pull cords above the pool so the nurse or attending staff member doesn’t have to leave the pool – just reach up and pull the cord to alert other staff.  In the sauna the call buttons needed to be designed with the correct IP ratings to work in the intense heat and steam in the hazardous environment.

The IPiN Nursecall system is networked down to one PC in the maintenance manager’s office. The PC is linked to an ADSL line which means that all maintenance and software updates can be sent via the phone line. All updates can be sent from The Wandsworth Group’s office without the need for onsite attendance, therefore reducing the cost to the client.

Neil Homer or The Wandsworth Group said: “This system was installed and managed by The Wandsworth Group and custom made for the building. We are proud of the integrated nature of our latest IPiN system and that is demonstrated perfectly with the contrasting nature of this buildings interior and exterior.  We are also strides ahead of out competitors with regards to delivering all our technology on one CAT5 cable when our competitors are using multiple cables to achieve the same high standards.”
