Developed to enable Drax (UK) fire detection and alarm equipment users to “monitor every stage of the maintenance process from any authorised location”, and to document every part of the maintenance cycle, IRIS (Internet Recording Information System) is a new web-based service management system.
Drax says IRIS will help ensure that users can meet their statutory duty of care and health and safety guidelines while helping minimise unwanted fire signals. It says: “Having a maintenance contract is no guarantee that your fire alarm is being maintained to manufacturer or industry standards”. Reckoning that over 80% of all fire alarm maintainers “routinely fail to achieve” the standards described in BS5839, or obligations under the BAFE scheme or LPS1014, it developed IRIS “in response to customer demands for proof of maintenance and FIA initiatives to raise pan-industry safety standards”.
