The first product to be launched by Redhill-based Bytec Medical, the recentlyformed medical equipment manufacturer, and engineering and design arm of the Bytec group, is a keyboard extensively trialled prior to launch to ensure it met the stringent infection control demands of A&E departments, hospital wards, and other healthcare environments.
Manufactured using hypoallergenic, latex-free silicone rubber, the Medi-Key is coated to provide excellent mechanical and chemical resistance to chlorine and alcohol-based disinfectants, and also incorporates antimicrobial silver ion technology as a “secondary defence”. Intuitive and easy to use, both keyboard and touchpad benefit from ergonomics research with clinicians and healthcare providers, while the low height keys’ smooth contours make the unit quick and easy to clean while attached to the computer, and without changeable covers or the need for immersion. Sealed to IP65, the Medi-Key has a simple to use and clean inbuilt trackpad (with no grooves or dirt traps), while a selfmonitoring feature advises an appropriate cleaning schedule.
