Horne Engineering designer and manufacturer of high performance thermostatic control products, has launched a new website ( www.horne.co.uk ), which it describes as a superb vehicle for providing customers with comprehensive in-depth product information, and enhanced technical support, as well as for sharing its knowledge and expertise in thermostatic control.
A “complete overhaul” of the design and content of the company’s existing site has resulted in a “much modernised look and feel”, with simpler navigation, new media content, “FAQs,” and a wealth of relevant product, market and industry information.
The company says: “As we move into our 102nd year in business, our website will increasingly become a key medium for us to communicate with customers. New areas are continually under development. The Support and Maintenance section gives access to narrated videos demonstrating the key maintenance procedures for the Horne 15 and Horne 20 TMVs and the TSV1-3 surface-mounted shower valve. Further training modules for all products in the Horne range will be added in due course. We also strongly encourage visitors to let us know of any installation or maintenance procedures they would like us to cover within this section.”
Currently in its final stages of development is a valve sizing programme, the so-called “Valve Selector” (see screengrab of current draft), which aids the selection of the correct size of TMV for group mixing applications (e.g. to supply blended water to a row of basins or showers). After inputting information on water supply temperatures and pressures, the number of outlets expected to run simultaneously, the required flow rate, and mixed water temperature, Horne says the programme will calculate the best valve for the application and then direct the user to the relevant product page for further information and the opportunity to “drill down” to a specific product code.
The company adds: “Every product we make has its own unique specification page, with a lift-out clause for pasting into a specification document. Full details on each product, including photographs, drawings, links to relevant regulatory information, accessories, and maintenance support, are also provided. Electronic documents such as AutoCAD drawings, approval certificates, installation and maintenance instruction, a spare parts list, and much more, can also be downloaded directly from each product specification page.
“While we have some great ideas of our own for the evolution of our new website, and intend that this highly useful resource will develop and grow, customers’ suggestions for future development of are also very much welcome.”
