Recently launched by Douglas Delabie is the Securitherm “Cool Touch” TMV3 shower valve (H9741T). The new range of thermostatic shower mixers is independently tested and certified by BuildCert to the NHS Model Engineering Specification D08/TMV3, and “offers many safety and water efficiency benefits”.
Bob Purdom, commercial director, explains: “The ‘Securitouch’ design offers ‘cool touch’ operation, with the cold supply passed along an outer water channel before mixing with the incoming hot water supply. Additionally, the water supply inlets feature thermal insulation covers to ensure a ‘safe touch’ temperature. Shower temperature is adjustable between 20°C and 41°C.” Smooth operation and comfort are ensured via easy-to-use control knobs, separate on/off and temperature control, and progressive temperature adjustment, which re-opens at the last temperature setting. To minimise scalding risk, an automatic anti-scalding feature shuts off hot water supply should the cold water supply fail, while smooth internals reduce the likelihood of biofilm development. A controlled flow-rate system reportedly gives “around 40% water savings”.
