Furniture to inspire confidence

A new collection of cabinet furniture designed to help care homes and carers support the specific needs of dementia patients is now available from Knightsbridge Furniture.

Including wardrobes, drawer cabinets, a desk/dressing table, and a “memory box”, Caspia has been created by designer Catherine Hawcroft, an advocate of the positive role that furniture can play in supporting the confidence and orientation of dementia patients. Features include use of colour and contrast to aid those with visual and sensory impairments, and domestic styling to convey a feeling of security for residents in “often confusing and unfamiliar settings”. Discreet design details to support independent living include contrasting doors, drawer fronts, and top panels, together with easy-grip handles, lipped top surfaces, and raised upstands to prevent items rolling out of sight. Cut-outs in drawer fronts and optional clear panels in wardrobe doors allow visibility of cabinet contents.
