An upgraded version of its fully sealed Wyki battery-powered wireless keyboard, designed for use with its hospital “smart terminals” for patient bedside applications, with a larger mouse pad, a numeric keypad, an improved tactile feel, and a longer wireless range, has been introduced by JAOtech.
Specifically designed as an infectioncontrol keyboard that monitors its own disinfect status, the Wyki keyboard is designed “for the most sensitive areas of a modern healthcare environment”, providing smarter prevention and control of hospital-acquired infections, with the “disinfection” function able to be set to indicate when it needs to be disinfected. Pressing the “disinfect” button temporarily disables the keyboard to prevent response to accidental key presses. Other infection control features include an IP65-rated “splash-proof” flat key design with smooth contours, ensuring reliable cleaning with wipes or hospital-grade disinfectants. The base incorporates plastics injected with a silver-based inorganic antimicrobial agent, while the unit has a 15 metre range. A wired version is also available.
