“Technology now means you can have a hot water handwash with liquid soap almost anywhere, which is the only way you can eradicate cross-infection of HCAIs such as Clostridium difficile and norovirus,” says the company’s Manty Stanley. “Our work with the NHS should be providing portable hot water handwash units for strategic positioning to encourage both medical teams and visitors to make preventative use of them. However, we are often only called in when trouble strikes, and there is a need to enforce handwashing to rid the ward of an infection. Alcohol hand gels and foams fail to kill most contaminants, including the deadly C. difficile or norovirus. If hands are visibly soiled, you must wash them with hot water and soap.”
