Airwave is providing free-to-use television and radio in multi-bedded and single room spaces via especially high (1,300 mm) ceiling voids at the new Hope Building wing at Salford Royal Hospital.
The challenge had to be met in both the outpatient (dialysis) unit, and in Ward H8 of the new wing. Given the ceiling voids’ height, selection of the ceiling pole, mounting solution, and TV assembly, early on was critical. Several “mock ups” and options were presented to the Trust, which opted for a 1.5 m chrome finish pole with a tilt and swivel ball mount for the 22” white Samsung Healthcare televisions, complemented by white Samsung PureCare wipe-down remote control units. Key system features include a television hospitality mode with volume limitation, and audio cables from the sets run up the ceiling poles and down to individual sockets set in the bedhead trunking.
