Photuris is the name given to new signage specialist, Norfolk-based Flashing Signs’ first range of highcontrast, motion-activated signs for delivering safety or communication messages to motorists and cyclists on non-highway roads, such as those within hospitals.
Photuris signs use LED lights in UVtreated strengthened plastic cases which, when activated, provide a high-contrast illumination visible even in direct sunlight. Flashing Signs says they are “extremely energy-efficient”, only lighting up when vehicles are approaching, and operate with low power input from mains electricity or via self-charging solar packs. MD, Tom Yeung, said: “Flashing Signs is plugging a gap in the current market for lightweight digital signage. By using hardened plastic as an alternative to aluminium in the sign casing, we have developed a sign which is durable and cost-effective, retailing at almost half the price of its conventional aluminium counterparts. “We offer stationary vehicle-activated circular and rectangular signs, with the option to customise design, size, and LED colour. The signs can also be used to display advertising messages, and a hand-held model is available to direct heavy plant or goods vehicles.”
