A new range of C02 commercial heat pumps designed to provide commercial sanitary hot water and high volumes of stored thermal energy is now available throughout the UK from exclusive UK distributor, ICS Heat Pump Technology.
Manufactured by Enex, the new ICS Heat Pump Technology-Enex Airheat and Geoheat heat pumps (air/water and water/ground to water) can deliver a COP of between 3.5 and 4.0 on an annualised basis, with a wide temperature increase of up to 80°C in a single pass. Garry Broadbent of ICS said: “Both the ground source Geoheat and air source Airheat ranges use the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ “zero environmental impact” natural refrigerant carbon dioxide CO2 (R744), a natural fluid not harmful to the environment and non-flammable, and whose use is not restricted by environmental regulations. “For increasing the temperature of water from low to very high (typically from 20°C to 80°C), carbon dioxide has another key advantage; these heat pumps operate using a ‘supercritical’ or ‘transcritical’ thermodynamic cycle, a non-isothermal heat transfer process between the working fluid – CO2 – and the water to be heated. This provides extremely high efficiency and maximum benefits when a high temperature increase is required, principally due to the heat transfer taking place without a change of state on the system’s refrigerant side.”
